Whats a good racing tranny for a D16

There isnt one. You can put in lsd if you want. I company is making a kit so you can mount a b series trans onto a d series block though.

a guy at a autosports shop told me to get a dx tranny because of the short gears or something like that

You obviously dont know much about hondas at all so stick with what you got. If your car isnt tuned then that would be your first area. Thats why it blew the first time.

your higher end cars will tend to have better gearing. so lets look at the line-up........
vx...built for fuel economy...so ah...no..unless you wnat to do 80 in second gear. lmao
cx......a little better but nop
hx....see above

ex...ding ding...we have a weiner
si...ding ding...we have a weiner

there is no such thing as a good solid performance tranny. really depends on the course. but mostly depends on driver. is the course straight? endurance style? flat-out speed? technical? even with the fastest acceleration to 60 mph trannie (see above notes) you still might be quicker in one corner compared to a "faster" tranny.

actually the EX trans from the D16y8 are the best D series trans.
