It is possible to modify the stock cable reel to carry the signals for
the CC controls, for some reason it is actually the same reel, just
with different connectors. But that is pretty ghetto.

I don't quite understand what you're saying.

 

the cable reel contains about 20 feet of of 5-conductor ribbon wound up in such a way that the steering wheel can rotate with out breaking the connection for the airbag, horn and cruise control. On a DX the the connectors only have three pins, while the EX/LX have 5 pin connectors. Realisticlly the easiest way is to fix this is to buy a new cable reel. but if you are really cheap and handy with a soldering iron (or if you are like me and you fuck up the new one...) you can adapt your DX reel to work for cruise.
