Default OBD1 and OBD2 questions

i had an obd1 civic coupe with an obd1 b16a in it and i wrecked that car....now i am putting that engine in a 00 ex shell which is 0bd2, i was told i have to convert my engine to and everything to obd2 but why? cant i just swap in the engine, use the ecu i had in my other car along with the wiring harness and everything else without having to convert it to obd2?

if i do have to convert it to obd2, i heard there was a way to repin or whatever an obd1 dizzy to make it work on an obd2 car.....that possible?

One of the things you need to consider is emissions testing. The new car is OBD2, so the testing station equipment will be looking for OBD2 ECU, etc. There are additional sensors in OBD2 cars, so an OBD1 engine may not be able to support them. Just some things to think about. If you don't have emissions testing in your area, the above points do not apply.
