Best wheels for a Del Sol

Default Best wheels for a Del Sol

I have been trying to find some nice non-rice looking wheels for my del sol that are also fairly light. I found these, but they are only 15". I was hoping to get some 16x7.5 wheels, but these are the lightest I can find. So several questions:

Assuming this car is mainly for the commute to work, what give me the greatest rideand cornering improvement over the stock 14's?
How much do stock wheels typically weigh?
How much will this improve acceleration/fuel economy?
Does any one know of some 10 lb wheels other than those that are cheap?

Rota wheels man, there gonna be best bet. If you want light, then rota slips are gonna be a good way to go.

here is a pic of a sol with black slips

Another set that I like is the subzeros, dont have a pic with them on the car though.

As far as seeing a difference in fuel millage and accelleration, your not gonna notice any, if anything youll get better handling from throwing a wider tire, but thats about it. Now if the car is more exstensivly modified then the effect might become more noticable.

Haha. I've never seen amber corners on a Sol.


!5" and 16" Konig wheels tend to be pretty light. My 15" Heliums weigh 10 pounds each.

Thanks guys, I also looked at Rota's.

Considering that they shave about 50 pounds off the car, they probably wont be noticable, but still, 15" wheels seem like the best bet. Tires for them are cheap.

there is such a performance issue from going from 14s to 15s. bigger then the diffrence of going from 15s to 16s.

Would it be worth it to go from 14's to 16's or would 15"s be fine?

basically what i am saying...is that it would be worth going to 15s from your 14s. bigger isnt always better for performance wise. what are you using the car for? daily driver? show stopper? weekend warrior? since you want a comfort ride......you are going to need a sidwall...the bigger the better. 13s would give you the best sidwall but they look like crap. you are going to want the smallest rim possible with the largest sidwall tire for the best comfort ride. performance wise???...this is tricky. the softer the tire...the better grip. the more tread...better grip. the more tread....worse grip while raining. your tire choice is going to have a huge impact over performance. you will have more choices with the 205-50-15 then opposed to your 205-45-16 or whatnot. or even your 195-55-15. ahh...im sickl of typing...there is to much to teach ya. just get your 15s and pick a tire around 300 or less for treadwear. unless you plan on racing the car

Thanks for the advice Waabaah. I am a total noob here, but I am catching on quick. This car is for daily driving and the weekend. I do realize that the more sidewall the more comfortable the ride, but I would like something more agressive or fun/sporty. I have concluded that 15's would be the best, they are the lightest, the tires are about $10-$30 cheaper compared to 16" wheels.
