Default I am New got a few questions

First off whats up Everyone I am new to the club, I am an owner of a 2003 Eclipse, and also a new proud owner of a 95 civic DX, it has a 1.5 5 speed, I know its slow, any way I would like to run it locally at the tracks and tyhe occasional streetrace or two, anyways I was wondering what would be a good motor swap to start which is also a good power plant for a turbo, also what kind of tranny should I put into and exhaust should I get. I know I will laso need a header so any help I can get would be awesome, also one last one what is a good site to get OEM parts for a pretty desent price? thanks alot to all

First of all, welcome. You'll find that your Honda will become a bigger passion to you than your Eclipse. There's something about the "H". Second, any engine can be a good candidate for turbocharging. It depends on how much work you want to do and how much power you really need for what you want from your car. Same goes for the transmission. There are different transmissions that are better for different setups. Right now I'm running a '96 DX with a JDM B18B and LSD ITR transmission. I have an AEM cai, DC sports JDM ITR header (I know DC aren't the best, but I couldn't boost right away and I got it basically for free), Carsound catalytic converter, and Apexi WS2 exhaust. I picked the B18B because they are good for boosting right out of the box and I don't plan on making insane amounts of power. Ultimately, though, it all depends on how much you want to spend and how much power you want. What kind of HP number are you thinking?

Oh, and by the way, for OEM parts this is the best site I've found so far.http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com The shipping will kill you if you just need one part. If you order everything at once it's a pretty good deal.

I think you have alot to learn before you should think about boosting.
Homemadeturbo.com is your friend, go there and learn. Of course if you used the search button youd know that already because this is like the 8th person in the last week to ask something along the same lines as your question

Thanks alot guys, I am somewhat familiar with boosting I have a lot of the stuff bought for my 3rd gen eclipse I will be able to run a 16g turbo on my evo3 turbo manifold, I just need to find a reasonable priced place that will bend my intercooler piping.

I do agree alot with having more fun with the honda cuz there is so many different things you can do with it, as far as engine styling, and so on and so on. With out boosting what is the best power plant to use to just give that good hp right out the gate. Also I have been looking through quite a bit, and I dig the site. Its kinda crazy the car has a motor with 60,000 on it and the chasis has 100,000+ the front fenders need replaced hoods fot some dents, headlights broken, hail damage, also does anyone know how hard a 2nd gear synchro is to fix. I picked up the car for 450 bucks which is way cheaper than I thought I was gonna get it for, also is the 1.5 worth boosting if I rebuild it, how much hp can I squeeze out of it?
Thanks to all
Mel

I am not a street racer by any means, If you would read the occasional, I know its dumb I dont bob and weave in and out of traffic. I know most people get annoyed when the occasional vehicle pulls up next to you and you feel that you need to show this person whats up, thats all I do in my eclipse, its fun like that. To put some cocky person in theire place.

rebuilding the 1.5 IMO is not really worth it. A good start off is exactly what Schmi said, a B18B, you can find those in your Integra LS and GS. Theyre very easy to swap into your 95 dx. The stock tranny and motor will be fine for low boost. If you decide to do that swap, let me know, I have some part numbers that can help you out like for the dist, ac compressor bracket, etc.
