SubscribeOk, so im still in the research and homework stage of my B18C GSR 5-spd swap into my 1999 EJ8 slushbox, and im just trying to clear things up with my dad, because hes going to be in this with me. What im trying to prove to him, is that importing a JDM clip from a GSR with the RHD components that you can take all of that shit and transfer it over to the civic, which is of course left hand drive. He doesnt think that it can be done, and has never believed in anything foreign made anyway. What i need to know is that re-arranging the pedals and putting in the clutch pedal, along with all of the cables and shift linkage, will work when taking all of it, EVERYTHING, from the RHD GSR and transferring it to the ex.
I know that the shift housing and components will fit, with little fab, and i know i have to either change around a few plugs and match up the pins with the harness, or buy a 99-01 USDM GSR harness, along with a 99-00 rear si mounts. I just need to know that this swap can be done taking all of the shit (pedals, housing, linkage, cables, harness, etc.) and putting everything from the GSR clip into the civic. Im assuming that i should try and use all of the B's engine bay (radiator, fans, P/S, A/C, coolant lines) just because im not sure if the civic's will be enough to run worry free with the engine, correct me if im wrong. Im just trying not to run into any hassels that are going to cause problems when the time comes to drop it in, and my dad needs fricken proof that the RHD GSR clip can be transferred into a 6th gen civic chassis. Be easy, this is my first swap and im still learning with these motors, along with getting my DL recently. If you can point me in the right direction with any of these questions, thanks.

whats the motivation to have right hand drive? Why not make things easier on your self for a first swap and just do a standerd swap. Theres nothing amazing about sitting on the other side, and enough people have done it that it wont be an awe inspiring build. Id say save the extra exspence from ordering an entire front clip and trying to get this thing to right hand drive, and put it into the car else where. Build a good all around car, the swap is a good start, and with the money you save from avoiding the silly expence of the conversion, you could do a really good suspension set up.

It can be done, it has been done, but it won't be by you. If you don't have extensive knowledge about custom fabrication, you aren't ready to do it.
It is unique, but it won't be fun driving on the other side of the car. Everything in the US caters to LHD vehicles, so you will find doing basic things like drivethrus a pain in the ass.

from what little i have read about rhd conversions, you have to pretty much cut out the entire firewall and re-weld that shit back in. i dont know about yall but thats a bit too much shit just to be a lil different. and if you dont know anyone that does welding for a living, itll be expensive

It depends on how you look at it. Like Shmoo said, some people are just awesome with custom fab work and can plan it out and get to work. but unless this person was a professional I wouldn't anyone cut my car in half then weld another front end on.

using a rhd fire on a lhd drive car isnt safe at all... im not saying it cant be done, but to do it correctly the car would have to be put on a jig to keep it square while that wall is out.... and if you ever crash it the firewall WILL NOT work the way the original piece did becasue it was transfered to the civic.... jsut my 2 cents.......keep it lhd, put the b18 in and drop the rest on parts
I guess what i should have cleared up from the beginning, is that im NOT converting it to RHD, its just a pain in the ass like what was said, and its way more work than im in for, im just wondering if all of the components from the RHD clip, will work in the civic while keeping it left hand drive, as in can i use the pedals, will i need to use the center consol for evertying to fit right, or what. im not converting to RHD, im just going to take everythign from the RHD clip and put it in the civic, but i just need to know that going from auto to manual with the RHD clip parts will work, and if im going to need any extra fabrication or should everything fit snugly and work well even though when its all said and done all the parts will be from the RHD teg, and my civc is still staying left hand. Sorry i didnt clear that up better.

why would u transfer parts from a RHD teg if ur staying on the left.
just swap out a LHD drive teg into ur car if u wanna have a diff interior. still some fab but if this is ur 1st swap, concentrate on that dude.

No, its not that i want a different interior, its that im going from auto to manual, and im wondering if i can use my center console for the shifter and housing, or if im going to need to use the integras. Im not converting to RHD, im just wondering how many of the parts can be transferred over to the left hand drive civic, (for example: gauge cluster, shifter, shift housing, possibly the center console if needed (or not), and the pedals, and if the RHD pedals will work with the left hand civic, just putting the right hand drive pedals on the left hand drive car, i mean wont they be backwards? and like am i going to have to find a us version of the pedals, because i need the clutch pedal and the brake, along with all of the shit to mount them. Sorry if im being to confusing, my dad just doesnt think that i could use the pedals, or the shifter, or anything else because its coming from a RHD teg and going into the left hand drive civic which is STAYING left hand drive.
