Default over heating problem

i have a turbo d16 and my damn car is over heating. I just changed the thermastat. and it seems to have done nothing. my top hose get hot but the bottom hose does nothing. and when i changed the thermastat i hardly leaked at all. is there some kind of pump that pushs the coolent through. or do i need more coolent. help me out. thanks

ummm....do you know how to check if you need more coolant? I had the same problem but it was because the seals on my radiator were leaking (it was old) I just bought a new one and put it in (20 mins) and now its fine...
