Default Door/Lock problem

Got this used 95 civic lx alittle while back. One of the only real problems with it is that it looks like the driver side has been jimmied before. The metal lining around the bottom of window is bunched up alittle where it went in. Does any one have any ideas as to this problem though: The automatic lock on driver side only work when the door is shut and engine running. Or, if I insert key after getting out and turn it. If I push it down or use the button with door open, its a no go. Is that a sign of electrical/motor damage of the power locks or what?

Thanks, Chris.

try opening the inside handle.....then locking the doors. same with locking your driver door with the lock tab. open the inside handle first...then push the lock tab with your thumb or whatever. honda did this so you woulndt lock your keys in your car.....but it hasnt stopped me from locking the keys inside my car. you get into a habit with it. :lmao:
