I was good making 290 on stock C1 sleeves and no block guard. As raiden said, if done right, I suppose they are helpful and a cheaper solution to real sleeves, but you just have to get it done right. I was pushing something like 12/13 psi on a T3/T04E, but my tuner was always warning me about 'putting a nail in the coffin' every time I went to the track on that pressure without sleeves. Just some things to consider.

and check out some of the setups hes tuned that he pushed over 400whp, including some engines over 500 with stock sleeves. it proves that its all in the tuning
i always get a kick out of this one http://forums.evans-tuning.com/viewtopic.php?t=3083

My only reservation in seeing setups/results like that is the longevity of the motor. It ran that great once or a few times on the dyno, but I tend to overbuild mine for daily driving conditions. Will a motor that makes 450 whp on stock sleeves pushing 30psi last that long? I don't really know. I only know what I did, but I didn't experience a blown motor so I don't know what too little in the build is. I say better safe than sorry. $1k for sleeves done right is better than $1k for another block that you have to start over with. Just a perspective to consider.
one more question but you guys have been very helpful, do you think ill be able to run 15psi and achevie atleast 260 whp with my greddy 18g 99-00 si kit, im upgrading to 550cc injectors, droping the emanage and using a hondata s200 w/b plus the other stuff we talked about forged pistons rods block guard ect.
What compression on the motor? The less compression the more fuel you need. 550's should be ok for a while. At 18 psi on and 84mm bore and 9.5:1 cr I maxed my 550's out on 60 psi static fuel pressure and a walbro 255 lph low pressure pump at like 18 psi at 7k RPMs. I say go 650's. They're just as easy to tune, you still get the same smooth idle and they're just as costly as the 550's (I think). I guess the real question is are you stopping here or do you plan to go further in the future? If you're not stopping, get the 650's so you don't have to buy more later.

im done i wasnt even planning to do internals but i want it to last its gonna be daily driven and it wont see more than 15psi or 15psi constanly, just when i need it to. ya i was planning on using 550s a walbro 255hp i have a fuel rail and regualtor and since its a b16 im keeping the stock bore 81mm and no lower than 9.1 cr, do you think the 18g will be able to handle it(no more than 15psi)? i want to keep the greddy kit. and does that set up(fuel) sound suffiecient.
Sounds similar to my fuel setup. I had the AEM rail, regulator, and filter. Same pump too.
Honestly, I don't know much about the 18g. I never learned the turbos... :happysad:
If it's bigger than the 15g then I think it will hold 15psi. My buddy had a 15g and ran 12psi daily with it on a stock everything D16Y8 (except for RC 440s). Ended up busting the piston ringlands, but still made 240 whp.
What boost controller are you using?
