Default Question about replacing an exhaust

Hello,

I have a 2000 Civic Ex Coupe and there are holes in the exhaust piping leading to the muffler due to rusting and corrosion, I guess. I went onto Ebay and bought a used Si exhaust (the muffler piece and the long piping leading up to the muffler).

I'm looking to DIY and change out the exhaust but since I'm a bit of a newb, I wanted to get people's advice before I attempt the swap. I tried to find some information on previous posts and just found some advice to use WD40 or penetrating spray when unbolting the existing exhaust.

Some questions I had:
- Is there a specific order I should unbolt/bolt things onto the car
- Is it worth a noob to DIY or should I fork out like 50 bucks to get it installed
- Other than hand tools and jackstands, are there other tools that would help in the swap?
- Any other advice or things to look out for during the swap?

Thanks in advance and I would appreciate any feedback in simple terms since I'm not as good with mechanical terms, ie- flange, B pipe, etc.

it is so simple....that a lot of people dont even want to waste their time by ansering your question. i do not know for sure that the si exhaust would fit but i would assume so.

jack up the car....use jack stands....get as high as possible. there are two bolts that hold on the muffler section to the mid section. loosen those two bolts....if you break one...who cares....buy new ones. stainless steel bolts will help ease of installation further down the road but not required. use 5w30 on the rubber hangers and grab a pry bar and start yanking. those are normally on there pretty good. that is it.......look at your flange (flange is where the two pipes meet) and if there is a gasket there...and looks beat up...replace it. any parts store should have it if they dont...ten get one from anoter car that closly ressambles the size and or shape.
