Clutch Instrall Problem
I replaced my clutch in my 1st gen X, worked fine...parked the car for a couple weeks...went to drive it and the tranny shifted fine with the clutch in but it wouldn't move and was like it was still in neutral....after some nosing around I surmised the clutch, cable and fork were moving but the clutchplate/throwout bearing were possibly jammed so it wouldn't release....way I solved it was to put the car in 2nd gear and start it with the car in gear....It took off and i drove it around the block....worked ever since....it was like the clutch was stuck in one position even though the rest of the system appeared fine. ??????
Ok, WCS was correct. It was the axles.
1st of all, went to put the passenger side axle. Tapped the inner hub w/ a hammer and it popped in.
The drivers side was a different story. After about an hour and a half of tapping, turning etc, I pulled the hub / balljoint /lca apart again and removed the axle. The splines seemed ok, but there were markings on them that didn't match up. Went back to the part store to exchange it and was told 'CV joints are our most returned item. They are either boxed wrong or assembled wrong'.
Well, 2nd the new axle went in in litterally 30 seconds. and then 5 minutes later the car was rolling.
The clutch kit is awesome by the way. Exedy stage 1 and 8lb flywheel. No problems driving it as many people mentioned in other threads. In addition, the car is so much more responsive and nimble. I'd highly suggest this setup

The worst part of it all, is now I know i'm gonna have to replace the tranny. The input shaft bearing is still noisy as hell. Oh well. It'll be much easier the 2nd time. I'll do it this summer probably.
