My money pit has a new problem.
Symptoms.
Monday, normal idle 700-900 rpm with that eratic rpm jumping up to about 1,500 rpm.
Tuesday, high idle about 1,500 rpm with no eratic jumping of the rpm.
Wednesday, high idle about 1,500 rpm with eratic jumping up to about 2,500 rpm.
I know I'm supposed to carb clean some valve but I don't remember if it's the fast idle thermal valve or the IACV. I'll also fool around with a flat head and adjust that screw and see what that can do for me. I just forgot what valve I'm supposed to carb clean so I said fuck searching.

To test your fast idle valve, take off your intake. There is a hole on the inside of the throttle body.
When your car is cold, there should be suction at that hole. Put your finger over the hole to check. When your car is warmed up, there shouldn't be any suction. If there is, you need to either buy a new one or screw in the plunger.
You would use brake/carb cleaner on your IACV screens if they are gunked up.

I checked my FITV. The plunger was completly unthreaded from inside the FITV. I just used my fingernails in the two slots to rethread it back in and problem solved. Very, very smooth idle now. Better than it's ever been. It took about 1/2 to take it off, clean it, rethread it and put it back on.
