Have a lil bit of money Thinking bout hookin up my 92 civic
Well I asked the same question on another forum with people that has honda experience also.
Ok the stats of my ride:
Top thing is that it has 180,334 miles on it
Check engine soon light is on, I think it may be my cat
convert.
Rust in the wheel wells.
Does anyone think its worth it to hook up?
* I do know a mechanic how would work on it.*
Heres is what I wanted to do:
I wanted to maybe get a used engine with less miles on it if needed.
A body & paint job
Tints
Tire and wheel Package

Define "hook up" please. Otherwise the "check engine" light doesn't mean "check engine soon". So either you or your mechanic should pull the code from your car to find out what the problem actually is. A bad cat will not throw a CEL code in your 0BD1 car.

-Unless you can swap the engine yourself, it is not worth the cost of buying the engine and paying labor for it. Plus with a low mileage engine, your chasis will have alot of mileage causing other things to break or fall apart. Then you would have to spend more $ fixing it.
A body & paint job
-You car is almost 15 years old, unless you are going to showoff your car at shows or really want to have a clean paint job, theirs no point. Its bound to have imperfections plus your car is reaching the end of its life pretty soon.
Tints
-If you can get a tint done for a decent price then go ahead. I would personally not do it because its going to be a pitb to see at night.
Tire and wheel Package
-Wheels varies by your style and tires are always worth paying extra for.
Sorry for the long post, but if i were you i start saving up to buy a new car instead of trying to modify a car that can give out on you anyday. Sure Honda's can last but your bound to hit a costly repair that might not be worth it.

I almost agree...
I mean the guy didn treally paint a picture of the car in my head...I mean a lil rust over the fender well or whatever...couple hundred bucks at a body shop good as new. As far as the lower mile motor...is the one that is in it bad, or is this guy just assuming he should do it for the sake of it. If the paint isnt peeling or totally fucked, I would prob just clay bar it, buff it, wax it call it a day.
What I am getting at and tryin to get at with my last 2 posts is.........take some pictures and let us know how much "a lil bit of money" is....to some that is 3k to others it is 300.
When i got my 92 civic hb dx i thought i would put a little money into it, but it never ends man. The only reason you would want to start is to do it for yourself, you will never make the money back that you put into it. 92-95 civic hb's are one of my dream cars, as stupid as that sounds, thats why i started my project. I have now dropped about 8k on my ride, not counting the price of the car. I have a JDM b16a2, 17's, 2001 integra leather interior, body kit, and soon to paint. What I am getting at is it is not worth doing unless its what you want to do, everybody has a different opinion on things. For me I would be pissed if someone woulda talked me out of fixing mine up. Hope this helped you out.
