Default Compression test part II (ouch)

So I did a comp test last week, numbers were 180, 195, 175, 200 .. since i was changing the plugs today i decided to do the oil down the plug hole test, and the numbers went to 210, 235, 200, 250!!! is there a direct correlation between psi and torque? am i not getting 10-20% power because i have blown rings? ouch!! please, please advise... btw... car is burning a good amount of oil. 1 quart every 500 miles or so. gas milage is 28-30 so not too bad, and there is NO water on the dipstick. any help is really really appreciated.

Those numbers are low but really not that bad... I don't see how you can be losing that much oil with numbers like that. Are you sure you aren't leaking it somewhere?

yeah 100% sure, i park it on cardboard and i check it regularly doesnt leak anything except the normal few drips of water here and there. i have noticed when i drive it harder than normal it burns reallly really fast. and if i just keep it out of vtec it hardly burns any. buuuutt... since i drive it pretty hard (its too tempting) it burns pretty fast i guess

I'd say do a leakdown test and figure out if it's your rings or your valve seals.

It's "normal" to burn a little oil at high rpms. Nowhere near that much though.

i understand its normal. i had almost a brand new civic ex, burned a tiny bit everytime i hit 7000 or so, but this is burning it pretty fast and you can usually smell it, also the difference 200 then up to 250 psi, thats a big jump to me! just a tiny bit of oil makes it that much higher makes me think its a pretty big deal, 20% power, if thats the case then im only pushing 130hp? there is no way thats normal.

You definately have a problem. I just really don't believe that those compression numbers can cost you that much oil and it would really suck for you if you tore your engine down, replaced rings, put it back together and found out your valve seals were blown too.

that not normal at all. if you are sure it is the rings than you can just replace them, if you cant be sure do a leakdown make sure, then replace them.

Your compression checks only the compression rings. It could be your oil rings. You may only be leaking while driving. Have you changed your pcv valve lately?

Ur best bet would be to a leak down test, and find if its leaking somewhere else. Have u every ran it dry of oil or over fill it? If so u might have burnt the valves.
