HELP: fix dome light so that it turns on when door opens

the lights work when i switch it to on or off but when i leave it in the middle where its supposed to stay on untill my door closes doesnt work...anyone know how to fix this?? i got a 97 civic..thanks

Isn't there a sensor on the door near the striker? When you open the door it extends causing the light to come on. Check it. It might be stuck in the compressed position, causing the light to NOT come on.

he means the door pin switches, its like a long black sliding switch. i had to buy these new on my civic, they are like $11 each at honda dealership

BUT...they all do work for i have an alarm system on the car which tells me the door is closed or open when i arm it...soo im pretty sure it works...any other ideas??

Ok, you have an aftermarket radio? EX model right?? Had a honda alarm system or keyless before?

no its the stock radio...yes its an ex...and it came with a python keyless entry when i bought it...i heard someone talking bout a green wire or some wires in the radio that could fix this...but not sure of what they said...
