not to sound like a jackass but if it is only in the rear did you put one or both of the rear shock in backwards?

here is what happened to me i kept hearing a poping sound out of my rear passenger side. this was about 2-3 months after my coilover install. i couldn't figure out what it was. then after becoming really frustrated i put the backend of the car up in the air and compared. i had pass side 180 degrees from what it was supposed to be.. turned it no popping..

so try that.

Ive already been through both setups, going with a separate spring and shock is a game of hit or miss. The travel rates of the shock and the spring can be really difficult to match. This can cause a perfectly good shock to go bad fast, This is why its best to just get a dedicated system that was designed to work together. My coil kit destroyed my shocks after only 7 months.

I took the whole coilover out and check it out. It seems nothing was wrong. Then again, someone told me that I could use some really thick grease(like the ball joint greas) to put it on the bottom and the top of the coil spring and see if it help. Do you guys recommend that trick?
