relocating the hood release cable?
Anyone have any docs on relocatings the hood release cable in an ej/ek? I'm starting to do my security mods and i want to move the hood release cable because i know its not very hard to pull it from the fender well. Besides that does anyone know of any other DIY security measues i can take?
I dunno if this is the right forum, but i figured this would be a good place to check..

If you really want to keep them out from under the hood, completely cover the latch and the cable. Then remove the handle from inside the car and perhaps connect the cable to a solenoid under the hood. Connect the solenoid to an alarm's aux input so then only you can open it from the remote (I actually planned on this...but didnt).
Or invest in hood locks (mr gasket makes a set). Theyre intended for security, not safety like lots of people think (use them in place of hood pins)
A fuel pump kill switch, starter kill, alarm, and anything else is a good idea
the more you have the better

If you want to make your engine bay more secure, get hood locks. There's a set that Summit sells that looks like a Coke machine key. They can be used in conjunction with the factory hood release. 2 locks and the hood won't budge without sheetmetal tools (unless it's of teh carbon fiber variety that goes crunch, crunch, crunch, hist...). It's certainly a deterrant to everyone that can't afford a $250,000 flatbed.
Do that, and get a quick-disconnect sterring wheel, a pedal lock, an alarm with a backup battery, ignition kill switch, and a pager, LoJack and a camera. You'll almost be protected from a determined thief. Insurance is the only protection against those.
