Default Head gasket

Ok so I discovered some coolant in my oil about 2 weeks ago while I was checking my oil, so I was immediately thinking blown head gasket, so I ordered the head gasket from honda a few days ago. And now I'm thinking...duh...what if it isn't a blown head gasket. The damn gasket set was a specail order and it cost over 200 dollars. Well like i said there's coolant in the oil, but there doesn't seem to be oil in the coolant.(I'm gonna double check this) Also I don't have any white smoke coming out the tail pipe. I'm gonna do a compression test either today or tomorrow. So if the compression is good this will mean the head gasket is fine. Right? And if the compression is low does that mean for sure that the head gasket is blown(paired with other symptom of coolant in oil)?

Compression can tell you if the head gasket is bad between cylinders but a leak down test will tell you for sure. Also there's a sniffer test to see if exhaust gases are in the coolant. You could have a craked head or block too. Did you overheat the motor recently? Are you using or loosing any coolant? Sometimes the condensation can form in the motor and not be burned off, especially if you moved the car to changed the oil.

No my car has never overheated before and it was eating coolant for a little while but it hasn't done it for the past couple of weeks. That's why I'm starting to second guess myself.

To take off the crankshaft pulley, do I need to use a special holding tool? I see a piture of it in the helms manual. If not then what do i need to use? Please I need an answer quickly.

Thanks for the reply. I just did a search and saw the million ways to do this. All I gotta say is :wtc: I'm not looking foward to this. I gotta get the head bolts before I get started. How do you use this pipe chain to lock the pulley?

Default head gasket

You use the chain wrap around the pulley with one hand (or a helper) while you use socket with a break bar (1/2'') to loose it. A better way of doing it is to buy a holder from Amazon.com (less than $30with alltrade brand name). Please update us about you progress. I have a coolant seepage and slow loss problem on my 2000 Honda Accord now!

Well I know you wanted an update, so here it goes... I got as far as the air intake and power steering pump, drained the coolant. Then I tried to get the engine mount bolts off - the ones near the camshaft cover. They were seized like cement. So I soaked them in a little lquid wrench, and went at 'em with my breaker bar. They weren't budging, so I whipped out the impact driver. They were still screaming " WE WILL NOT GO!!! " I tried my breaker bar again and it finally started turning, and then I realized it was turning because my 1/2" to 3/8' adapter was breaking. After that I tried an electric drill I have with 410 lbs of torque, and it smelled like it was about to catch on fire. The bolts are still on. I might just have to take the damn car to a shop. If the engine mount bolts are seized like that, then I don't even want to imagine what the crankshaft pulley bolt is like.

D16Y8. I got it from the dealer. It's the head gasket set w/ the head gasket and all the different types of seals and other gaskets. When it comes to seals and gaskets, I don't want aftermarket stuff.
