Yeah, finding a place in california to smog test a modified car (regardless of whether the mods are CARB exempt or not) is extremely difficult. Even with my 50 state legal turbo kit, I had to pay to get it passed illegally because I couldn't get it done legally.

down here in miami i never seem to get any problems with cops but my car looks completly stock on the outside but under the hood is a diffrent story haha. first thing the cops look for is a car thats been droped with rims and or body kit. they will hit them up first before the go after a car that looks completly stock.

You got to check yourself, who ever told you this is giving you bad info, theres a lot of people who talk without thinking, My car is lowered, I have a catback exhaust, intake, headers, fogs, and some other stuff, and its still legal, because it passes the smog check.....inform yourself next time.

Swaps are legal as long as it is a newer engine than your car. If the engine is older than your car, it is illegal.
