Default air filters...

When was the last time you guys cleaned/replaced your air filter? I was thinking of getting the K&N oil thingy but I don't have a K&N filter. Same thing, right?

A really old wannabe RS akimoto filter. No name brand I guess. I've rinsed it out a few times, but when I was at autozone earlier today, I just happen to see the K&N oil and thought if I needed it or not...

Im guessing it is a paper filter like the KN. If it needs to be oiled...I think the KN should do the job.

Know any places that sells foam filter oil and cleaner? I cant seem to find any and my filter is getting FUBAR dirty.

What kind of filter do you have?

This is probably the best I could find;

for some reason, i'll always yearn for a nice foam filter in a stock airbox over my current short aem . . .. .

but i want teh spoon sports carbon fiber arm because what it replaces is a bit too unncecassary

o well, back to the topic. . . .my intake has about 6k miles on it and the filter looks fine. aem told me to use a k&n filter cleaner kit on it so it probably works for other intake filters as well.

K&N is a cotton gauze/steel mesh filter, which Iceman and some AEMs (AEM filter, not the K&N from older CAIs) are.

You should clean it every 3000-10,000 miles if you are using an open cone/element filter because it is more exposed than a drop-in filter, which you should clean about once a year or every 50,000 miles or so...

Yeah...my foam filter is just a drop in. they were discontinued pretty fast. I got it for 5 bucks from a friend. It does its job...for now. Jackson Racing only makes the cone type short ram now.
