High Flow Cat Questions!

High Flow Cat Questions!
I had a stainless steel high flow cat installed on my 00 civic ex. the muffler place that put it on told me that its going to cause my check engine light to come on because the 02 sensor bung was in the back of the new converter and not in the middle like the factory converter. Which indeed my light came on, but is that why?? Other question is, is there any type of 02 sensor bypass plug or anything that i can get to make the check engine light to go off??

I think you need the handeld computer thingamajig to turn of the check engine light, but there is a product available the fools the ECU into thinking the standard cat is still in place. www.kteller.com used to have it on there site. You might want to contact them about getting it.

o, and if you are going to keep the cat, you are going to have to bypass the o2 with one of the hand held computers and you will have to get a socketed ecu so you can chip it to bypass.
good luck

EDIT: Also, using a hand-held to bypass the ECU may work until you disconnect the battery and everything resets.

true, i have heard alot of good things about the simulator, i have just not personally used it myself. I have a buddy that works for subaru who has a handheld. he bypassed everything and it worked great. that is only my experience. i would say, go with the simulator, it seams cheaper then the handheld. good luck

Yes, OBD1 cars are not equipped with a secondary O2 sensor, so it will not read it. You will have to get a conversion harness and the ECU and those cost a good amount of money. Just get the O2 simulator to get rid of the CEL.
