is there a d16z vtec?

Default is there a d16z vtec?

from what i ve found online and thru repair manuals, there is a d16z sohc vtech engine, at least for my 95 honda civic. it was a dx with the d15 non vtec, but i ve swapped with what is supposedly a d16z vtec.....i need to know b/c i need a wiring harness. can anyone help me??

unless I'm really mistaken all D16z6 engines are vtec

all d16z6 engines are vtec. you would need an engine harness from an OBD1 EX to make it work properly. or you can add wires for the vtec, but i dont know how that works so i would just opt for the harness.

Yeah, if its the z6, it should 1. Say it on the block, 2. Have a Valve Cover that says VTEC on it, and 3. Will have a VTEC solenoid on the back left of the head.

true on everything but the vtec cover...ive swapped out two that never said vtech: just so people dont think they ALL say that

yeah i think the 92s and 93s that were vtec had the same style cover as a non vtec, it doesnt say it anywhere on the cover.

the non vtec valve covers and vtec valve covers are different, the non vtec head has the spark plugs pointing towards the firewall and the vtec head has the spark plugs facing the front of the car.

im having a similar problem i need 2 know if i can swap a 96 civic 1.5 non vtec d15 into a 99 civic ex sohc vtec 1.6 d16 sedan please shed some light on my predicament

he can.... but those engines are cheap why not just get the same one they cost about the same and u wouldnt have to worry about wiring
