live in NY and its been about 15 degrees out w/ a wind chill of 0-5. anyways its been real cold. im driving my car for about 5 minutes and for no reason the speedometer needle jumps from 15mph to 50 then down again. anyone having this problem, think its cuz its so cold?
its a 94 civic ex 2dr auto. 135k on it
I had a problem similar to that and it wasn't seasonal after it started. I finally had to replace the speedo out of a donor cluster. Had the mileage set to correct at a speedo shop. If it helps to hit the dash, it's the speedo end. If not, it's the sensor end at the tranny.
before you buy a new sensor try using some dielectric grease on the connector at the tranny worked for me this will help keep out corrosion and keep the connection from erroding
