92 Si overheating
So....My motor is done. 204,500. "That'll do pig.. that'll do. lol.
The car got a new radiator, thermostat, and cap. Flushed as well. Car still overheats. Head gasket????????? I'm not driving the car hard at all. It stays cool for about 5 miles with normal driving, then temp shoots up. I BLAST the heater. It levels off to about 10:00, then sits @ 9:00. After about 5 minutes, shoots up again. When that happens, I'm already parked.
No white smoke out the tail pipe.
Non the less, the motor is going. I'm more than likely gonna put another D16Z6, but would love to know what's the fastest/best vtec I can put in, that's a straight swap. No ECU to change, no brackets....etc. A good friend told me to get a D16 and throw a DOHC head on it, and be done. He's gonna help, so my labor cost is $100 plus the motor for the swap. Got about $1000 which is gonna include a stage 2 clutch just incase my balls get bigger. I've seen D16Z6's for about $325 all day on ebay from a shop a shop in Gardena, Ca. It's close enough to pick up, so that's where I'd get it from.
I know there are theads galore on this subject, I've been searching. If anyone has the time to cut and paste one, or just know what's up, thanks in advance on your Guruness. It's my first swap, and I'm down for it.

there aren't any easy dohc D series swaps for you, sorry. Your friend that suggested it probably isn't the most knowledable about hondas.
As for your problem, are you 100% sure that you've bled all of the air out of the coolant system?
I say try bleeding it a lot more and see if that helps.
If not do a leakdown and see if your headgasket is blown, if so just change the headgasket, its a much easier job than swapping to another engine. The d16z6 is already the best D series there is

So I open up my .pdf Service manual on 92-95 Civic and look up the section on bleeding. I followed it to my knowledge, and drove the car a good 30 miles in the city, and it's yet to overheat. If it begins again, I guess that's it for the head gasket? The oil is looking pretty black. The radiator fluid isn't looking rainbow like on the surface.
