better off with a stand-alone ecu like hondata, uberdata, crome...

For a mild build, it should be just fine.

None of those are stand-alone ECU's. Regardless, they are better than the VAFC.

hondata s200 will do more for you than a VAFC. probably cheaper route too.

if you go with a bigger intake manifold and tb youll want to put cams in it atleast because you dont need the extra air flow on the stock cams you will lose power not gain, happened to me when i put a skunk mani and 68 mm tb on the exact same setup your going to run i-h-e i also had a vafc tuned as well. with the stock mani and tb on my b16 put down 151.3 after tunning. but when i went to the bigger mani and tb with tuning i droped to 146.8 so now thats why i turbo. with the skunk mani and 68mm tb the dyno chart didnt peak wanted to keep climing after red line meaning i needed cams and bump the rev or turbo and thats what i choose. but to answer your acctual question
1. the afc will be fine with your i-h-e i gained 7 whp after tuning one on the same set up.
2. wouldnt advise getting a bigger manifold and tb without any thing but i-h-e you will lose power.

Oh ok, thanks alot for the info. So then I think I will just buy the vafc for now, but later on add the throttle body first followed by working on the head. Another question I have Jasma headers and a Apexi WS 2 on a stock cat. I wanna get either a testpipe or high-flow cat, any suggestions on which one and what size 2 1/4 or 2 1/2?

2 1/4 is the american spec and 2 1/2 is the jdm spec so you will have to get a 2 1/4 most likely. at this satge in your car you wont see much gains from either test pipe or high flow, you might gain some top end horse power but will probably lose some low end torque. once you do cams or turbo then it's more feasable. But go for a test pipe because once you put a high flow on you cel light will come on and youll have to buy a ziptech o2 simulator so you might as well jus put a test pipe since your cel is going to come on in either instance and a test pipe is cheaper than a good high flow. but if you have to have an emissions check or you are smog concious put on a high flow
