What is the most power I can get out of this engine. Is it worth it?

 

yea if you got the money but be less i think to do a swap i dont know

 

turbo or swap it out.... only 2 things u can really do.... all motor is pointless on the SOHC

 

ive seen 500whp out of a d. it was fully built with a bomb proof bottom end, and a very nice turbo and race gas

the d16y8 is a great sohc engine i would say the best honda has made but yes it is nothing much but a single overhead cam so what do u do to make power? swap it if u want to be like everyone else including myself but i gave seriouse thought to building the d16 i think it would be cool. so anyway the only way to make power on these is turbo but that engine is known for blowing on anything more than like 7 pounds of boost. but thier is good news u resleeve the block with basically any ductile iron sleeve which can be done by any machine shop or if ur lucky like me be friends with the owner of one and get all ur work done for free and that block will hold more boost then u should ever really want if planning on keeping it a daily driver. remember replace internals atleast the pistons in the bottom end but everything in the top end ull have no problems happy driving if u have any more questions get back to me. sorry for the length

 

d16y8 is good, has oil pump issues but its the second best sohc in my mind.

boost it and have some fun
