electricAL help needed (starting)
ok, I have a 98 honda civic ex with a gsr swap also I have msd ignition system a6(these have been in my car forever without a problem)...ok within the past couple weeks when I go to start my car nothing happens.. its not the battery and nothing is turning over, all I hear is the doors locking.. then after a couple of times tring it starts without a problem.. what could this be? it doesnt happen everytime I get into my car but it happens enuff thaT Im concerned about it. also when i go to start my car for the first time of the daY it starts ruff, I have to pump on the gas peddal to get it going otherwise it will just clunk out...anyone knows whats going on? thanks
It does sound like a starter starting to fail. If it gets worse, and you can't start, hit it with a hammer and it should start.
Also you may have a weak or leaky fuel pump or a losing presure in the line as a seperate problem? When you first go to start the car, turn the key to run, wait for 2-3 seconds, then crank it (if your starter will let you). What you are doing is letting the fuel pump pressurize the line and it should start easier. But then again, clunking out sounds like a throtle problem?
