Im trying to do a ignition coil test with a multimeter I bought.I have a HELMS, I took of the dist. cap.Then it shows a pic of the rotor wheel with a screw coming from behind and underneath the wheel.I can not get that screw loose.Is there a trick to this or anything.Im using the correct phillips screw head and everything but all it wants to do is strip the head.


Anything safe to spray on the screw to help loosen it? WD40?
Also the tip of the rotor is burnt a little bit.

Would that be a bad coil or ignition switch or ignitor?

 

I had the same problem with my retaining screw last year. The screw was seized and the metal of the screw was too soft to get it out. I ended up taking it to the dealer hoping they could get it off. They couldn't get it either. If I remember correctly, they had to break the rotor to get it off.

One thing that may help you is if you have an impact screw driver

 

I had that problem and it seems like I had to cut a line in it with a hack saw? I can't remeber for sure. I may have broke the rotor and used a vice grip?

I was really tempted to leave that screw out once it was off. Anyone know if that's feasable? Will the rotor slide too far down to be opperable?

 

I finally got it off.I wasnt going to stop until it came loose.i used a power screw driver and 140 lbs of body weight!

I see the coil where is the ignitor?

 

the ignitor is the squarish box in the dist. that has 3 wires running to it

 

don't put that same screw back in unless you use anti-sieze on it.
