It depends what you mean by better. The D series will be more fuel efficient and affordable.

B18B's will be the best bang for buck. They have good torque and are affordable, but don't have vtec. They also have potential for a lot of different applications. Great for turbo. Decent N/A. You can put a vtec head on it.

B18C's (GSR) are great, but more costly. It has vtec.

B16A's are a vtec engine with a high redline. Not as much torque or hp as the B18's.

B16B (Civic Type R) Expensive. Well built. Good N/A engine.

B18C5 (integra type R) Expensive. Well built. Great n/a engine.

This is just a basic outline. Search for the stats of the engines you are interested in.
