Gas Light
So I learned the hard way the other day that my gas light doesn't come on. Luckily, I didn't get stranded, but it was close. I was cruising down the highway when the car started sputtering. I made it to the gas station in time after the car died on the off-ramp. Started and ran just long enough to give the beast a drink.
Anyway, the gauge itself works, and the light used to work. The last time it came on was the only time I have run out of gas for real, and I didn't have much warning that time. This time the light didn't come on at all.
What could be the causes of the light not working? Could this be the sensor in the tank, or something in the gauge cluster? Like I said, the needle works fine, but I would definitely like to have the light work too.
Thanks.

first, never let gas tank get below a quarter of a tank 1/4. Reason being, all that shit from the bottom of the tank, dust, rocks, whatever else gets in there then gets sucked through the lines and can cause one to rupture or just clog up and THAT AIN'T CHEAP. Happened to my girlfriends civic and it sucked.
Ok, I was hoping that I wouldn't have to say I wasn't looking for a lecture. I mean no disrespect, but I'm not looking for a lecture on driving with a low gas tank. I'm looking for reasons why the gas light doesn't work.
Burned out bulb or loose bulb. Be careful when you take it out and check it because the bulb holders can be brittle. You can check the bulb with an ohm meter if it has a color cover over it.
Yeah... my fuel light hasnt worked for a couple eyars... I usually dont let t get low enough though. Also, CaliDELSOL93si do you know how the fueling system works/ where it draws the fuel from? It takes it from the bottom of the tank. I know what you were thinking, but its simply not true that sludge is sucked up from the bottom of the tank when fuel is low. Its happening all the time.
