double bend is so the shifter is "closer to the driver", the bend should bend back toward the driver and rear of the car.

yea so i was taking out the old shifter...disconected the linkage then went to take off the plate holding the shifter in...turn the bolt and the top of the bolt is turning..its a round head so no sockets fit..also vise grips and plyer's are to big to fit into the hole from inside the cabin..

i used vise grips, the top of the part shold have a square shape under the haed, push this down into the plate, it will hold it, or use vise grips. its a lil pain, but worth it. what kind of double bend did you get??

i cant find vise grips that are small enough to fit into the little hole around the shifter...i tryed plyer's, needle nose's, and vise grips....
