Default Correct Transmission??

Well...I purchased my Si a few months ago and had some engine work done. When I purchased it the RPM rage seemed a bit to high so I had a stock tranny put it and it still seems off. When I am going 100 in 5th gear I am at 5 1/2 RPM's. Thats seems high to me. I talked with my friend and he has my same engine but he said he can go 120 and be at 5 1/2 rpm's. Is there a different transmission I am supposed to have or is it something special. Let me know because I am lost at this situation! O_o

What transmission does your friend have? The b16 tranny is a pretty close geared tranny. Yours doesnt seem that close. My itr is at about 4k in 5th just going 70mph.

Your friend has a b18b transmission. He will be slow as poo as a result.

Your trans seems correct.

Yeah. I am not sure what Tranny I have nor what he has either. I just remember when I test drove an acura integra before I got my SI...it had the same engine as my car but the range between shifts was a lot more. I am on the highway alot so it is at 4 grand or so so my car gulps the gas. I wasn't sure if there was a diff tranny I could have so it wasn't running so high and I would save gas....but what you are saying is If I get that tranny I would be slow?? Can't I just downshift into 3rd versus 4th and still have the high rpms to get up and go or will I lose the go when I shift up a gear and it drops down low?? Little lost here. Any help would be appreciated.

On the tranny case, look for the stencil/stamping (I forget which) that says S4 or S4C.

Whats the difference between s4 or s4c??

Putting in an LS 5th gear...will that just make it drop down a little more when I go into 5th so I have more of a range to go? ALso will that slow down my car or is an LS 5th gear better or something? O_o
