Default Master Cylinder is leaking?

My car is hard to get into gear sometimes, and real hard to get into reverse. It also grinds in 4th at high rpms. I looked my my master cylinder resoivore and i realized there is no fluid. Also i have grease or oil or something up near my clutch pedal, up at the top. Do you think my master cylinder is leaking? If so what kind of fluid does it use???

Sounds like the cylinder leaking, yes.

Use Honda brake fluid.

Fill, then clean it up completely so you can find out where the leak is coming from. If you still can't find the leak you may need to go with that..... I forget what it's called right now, but it's a colored fluid that makes it easier to find leaks. A good mechanic would know more about that stuff.

Looks like your master cylinder is worn out and leaking. This exact same thing happened to my civic and my step sisters civic. You need a new clutch master cylinder. You could add fluid and bleed it and it may be fine for long enough to find the part, but that's what you'll have to do. You can replace the slave cylider while you have the fluid out of the system. The slave is really cheap compared to the master. The whole job is pretty easy. Make sure you use flare nut wrenches on the fittings and not a regular open end wrench though.
