Default how do you polish a valve cover?

how do you go about polishing a valve cover? i need to do something with mine and i am not sure what i want to do. SHould i paint it or try and polish it?

I'd have it powdercoated to match your.... accents.

A friend of mine sat around all day with all sorts of sandpaper a polished till the cows came home... then it finally 'blinged'

if you wanted to polish it...

1.) sand w/ 300 grit sand paper
2.) sand w/ 600 grit sand paper

and you will have a shiney valve cover. It's best done if the cover is removed. Also, If you have a high power buffer you can buff it and it comes out nice too.

You forgot wet sanding too. 1000 wet grit sand paper using water and an old bowl.

That's what I just spent the weekend doing. I used Zephyr polish. It's used by bikers, and available at most bike shops. I polished for hours, and finally gave up. I eventually painted it with aluminum color high temp paint, and it looks really nice. Just remember: lots of light coats.

well i have given up on polishing it was gonna take way to long so i have decided to paint it.

I painted mine black. I got it to look like the krinkle coat on the b series valve covers and then I polished the raised honda lettering. Looks tiiite:thumbup:

Has a factory look.

u can buy one for 100 or less at your local performance shop...and there are a few places which do polishing look in the phone book...by ur self u will never get it to look 100 shinny chrome it will still look sort of dull....
