I have had 3 5g (92-95) civic's and everyone of them has had this problem. I just pull out the gauge cluster and up plug the plug for that lite. Its about 5 minets to do that.

thanks i'll try that tomorrow. so its just a glitch with the light, not the air bags, or a sensor, right?

i tried to reset the computer two ways: one, i took out the fuse for the air bags, started the car, then shut it off. put the fuse back in, and restarted the car. that didnt work, so i unpluged the battery for like 15 minutes. when i pulged it back in i had to reset the clock, and reprogram all the radio stations, but the SRS light was still on.

so now what?

hell, i don't know. i do know i wouldnt advise just 'removing the bulb'. what if for some reason your srs light is on bc you have no air bags? was your car sold used and previously wrecked? most of the times when that happens, it means a body shop fixed the dents/replced the airbags(hopefully) but never reset the srs light. however, there could be a slight chance.. they they fixed the dents, & never replaced the bags. do you really want to risk your life & take a chance on not having a airbag, period & just removing the bulb? i'd take it to a dealership & have them see why its on, and turn it off if it should be.

Default Bad News

My mom had a 1997 accord ex wagon with the same problem. come to find out that it is a very expensive fix. the problem with her car was the srs computer was bad so it had to be replaced it was around 500 bucks. the other bad thing is your air bags dont work with that problem. so if it bothers you and you dont have the money to get it fixed i would do like ohio civic said and pull the light out of you gauge cluster. also the srs system has nothing to do with your computer or cel, so scaning isnt going to tell you anything.

take it a mechanic. air bags are something that you don't want to fuck with. it could kill you. One touch of the wrong wire or unpluging off the wrong harness. and poof decapitation. trust me dude if heard storys when i was in auto tech. if you don't know what your doing don't mess with it.

My srs light is on and my abs light. There is a procedure in the manual to check the srs system and the abs. The abs light was on because the right front wheel speed sensor is shot and the abs light is on because the aftermarket kit that is on the car now is not the stock bumber and somebody (read - previous owner) messed up the sensor. Now i don't know if they work or not...
