Oil pan change on '93 Del Sol 1.5L
Well....I got an oil change yesterday and the guy told me that the last place I had it done stripped the threads in the pan and plug. He can put a new pan on for the low price of $368. This seems like too much to spend on a $1700 car with 192,000 miles. As of right now it has a self-tapping plug in it but it is leaking.
1. Is his quote high?
2. Is this easy....something I can do in the driveway?
3. Where do I get an oil pan? I did a google search but the prices range from $80 to $212 and I don't know which brand/store/website to use.
Or, do I have any other options?
Thanks

can get a new one for 80 bucks on ebay and a gasket for it is like 15 bucks.
Thanks, Scooby....that's some great news. I'll get some ramps to put the vessel on.
Are there any little tricks or shortcuts that might make it easier? Do I have to remove the exhaust, or is there a way around that?

The pan should slip off around all the other parts. Do a google search for "honda car parts salvage" and see what you get. Or just call some salvage yards. I bought a whole engine for my car with that money they want for just the pan. A pan isn't even a mechanical part!
