b16a sir2 motor problems
wut up everyone, i have 2 problems with my b16 right now first of all it keeps revin up and down all the time. Some one told me that could be idle air control valve???? Another thing is it just started makin a rattlin or tapping noise. someone told me that could be the valve springs???? i really need some help thank you.
Iacv is located on the back of the intake manifold - it has 2 coolant lines connected to it, and an electrical connector. Remove it from the manifold and clean it w/ carb cleaner. That should help the idle
If youre not sure what the tapping is (and it could be valves) you should not attempt to fix this yourself - you can really screw it up worse, if you dont know what youre doing.

When did you install the motor, usually if it was recent, it'd take about a week or two for that erradic revving to go away, it's normal. Also happens when I reset my ECU.

It could be the IACV, the thermo valve, or air in the coolant system. If you have eliminated those, you may want to start troubleshooting the electrical (broken/shorting wires). Also, check the vacuum lines.
My car had a lumpy idle and stalled when coming to a stop. Then the speedo would intermittently stop working. I checked all of the above, then replaced the engine wire harness. Expensive? Yes. However, I was never happy with the way the wiring ended up after my B18C swap so I finally had a good excuse to put in a new engine wire harness. Now she purs like a kitten. No stalls, no spaztic gauges, no loping idle. Wish I had done it sooner.
