Default just started driving the civic today

my car has been sitting for a while and i just took it out for a spin today.. i have been having a low idle problem for a while but when i started it up it was at 1500 .. after driving it for about 2 minutes i stopped at a stop sign and saw the idle was actually sitting at around 900 for once.. i drove it around some more and when i got home and parked it the idle was sitting down very close to the governor once again.. when the idle is that low it makes it hard to take off without stalling an its starting to get at me.. i was thinking about adjusting the idle screw on the tb but i dont see why it could be at 1500 and just drop so low.. any help??

This actually sounds quite normal, if I read it right. When the engine is cold, the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve automatically allows more air to bypass the throttle plate at idle, resulting in an idle speed of ~1500 r/min. As the engine slowly warms up, the IAC valve gradually reduces the amount of bypassed air, until the engine reaches its operating temperature. At this point, with all loads off (no a/c, cooling fan, or electrical items are on), the idle speed should be at 670 rpm +/- 50 rpm, according to the Helm's (factory) service manual. Is this about where your idle is?

its down maybe a millimeter above the governor.. im told the last line is the 500 mark and it is below the middle of that line.. when the idle is low like that it makes it tougher to take off when stopped without stalling it..
