Default Help QUICK

ok guys ive posted before about this but im still confused and ive dont reasearch and still cant figure out what to do. First of i have about 8000 dollars to spend on the motor. I want to turbo it and make around 250-300whp as a daily driver. I just dont understand and dont know what has to be done to protect the engine from boost and blowing up??? :confused also what is the best engine to go with and what should i do to it to make it good for boosting and being a daily driver???? I was thinking about the peakboost or fullrace turbo set up's but i dont know what engine to do it on? also the internals and cams what should i have? should i polish the head....overall im asking how to protect a turbo engine so it can be a daily driver and what is the best engine to turbo and reach those numbers that i want which is 250 or 300 whp???????

thanks for any who helps, everyones comments will be appreciated!!!

DISCLAIMER: I am no expert.

Some general things you probably want to look at for 250+ whp:
1. bigger injectors
2. better fuel pump
3. engine management
4. Anything that will help the engine breathe better (throttle body, p+p'd head, intake manifold, good cat-back exhaust, etc)
5. sleeved block
6. intercooler
7. boost controller
8. excellent tuning

I would not worry about the cams. As far as engine choice goes there are several options. B18B has better torque that B16 or B18C and the internals should be stout enough to hand that power. B18C has good top end but parts will be more expensive that the B18B or B16. B16 is the cheapest and lightest of these three motors and has the best flowing head (stock). However, it does have the least torque. Its the torque you really want for a daily driver. I would recommend dropping in the B18B, follow the eight
suggenstions above, and if you really want peace of mind, build the bottom end with forged pistons and rods.

Someone correct me if I have ommited or mis-stated anything.

Default Thats a good question

At the shop i have(well we have) done turbo but i do lots N/A stuff. My cars are well over 250hp naturally aspirated and both are actually my daily drivers.i have close to 80,000 kilometers on my 01 Accord Tureno. The key is strong bottom end and strong top end. I have seen my cousin and a friend homemade turbo a 95 GS-R engine, and it was a daily driver. They didnt really spend much of anything on it. So i kno a good engine is a B series engine. H22A are good. seminglly we get the tried and true for year here in thailand is the H22A, but in the states there were to varients.the H22A1 and the A4 being the revised. well if yu are gonna use on use the A1 cause 90 percent of them were decked blocks. Or use a JDM H22A. If yu run into an A4 or non decked A1 upper cylinder block braces sold by many companies like Race Engineering. This will insure top strength oh the cylinder sleve.Other factors are good bottom end, get new rods with non studded sleves(ones that use bolts) this ensures a less chance of " throwing a rod". and a lightweight and sturdy crank. and pistons that are applicable to take turbo applications and 9.3:1 compression. And a HV oil pump to say the least as well as a metal on copper head gasket or a good head gasket and gasket sets.A respected turbo kit frum a well respected company, boost gauges and turbo timer.

So you don't know much about the engines, which engine to use, what parts to use, or how to protect it. Instead of reading what a few people say, do your self a HUGE favor and learn everything on your own. Research everything. And unless you're willing to learn, don't even bother working on your car. Once you turbo your car, 1/2 the garages around won't even think twice about servicing it. Be prepared to scratch your head a lot trying to figure out what's wrong, then spending time working on it yourself.

Trust me it will be WELL worth it.

That is very well true, even tho i am frum a respected Tuner shop, the best thing as stated is to learn, ESPECIALLY that yu want to run turbo. Wut will yu do when there is not a shop that can take yu too look at yur problems when one arrises?Learn about it , read, do all yu can, and as said otherwise just take it sumwhere and have them do it and insure they will back up their service.
