Default engine mods

I know this is a simple question, but I have a 97 DX Coupe, and I was wondering if it is even worth it to modify the stock engine...I know I can do some basic mods and slap on a JRSC, and probably net about 170-180 HP, and im only looking for a little more pep for highway cruising...i have another car if i want to go seriously fast....

Lowered suspension and rims w/ lower profile tires will be your best mod. You wont be the fastest at the 1/4 mile but you will be able to take on-ramps like a pro.

i do have rims w/ low profiles....i want to switch to 16", but now i have 17" niche rims w/ toyo FZ4 tires...i havent lowered it yet, but im going to once i start on the suspension...it handles ok for now, but if i add that JRSC, i'll need better than stock components to keep up...

for the price of that supercharger, you can get a new engine in there.

and I don't mean high performance, either.

You could always swap 97-00 ex engine

so would it be more worthwhile to swap an EX engine in there....i suppose that would be a better base to start modifying....the DX just doesnt have that 'umph' that i want...

If you're going to do a swap, go B-series. If you just want a comfortable highway cruiser a b18b (about $500) and tranny and you should be good.

what im really looking for is a good engine to start modifying to be fairly fast, but just for street, not strip use...is the b18b good for that?
