Default Bump stops?

When I recently did my suspension, there were no bump stops to put on my tokico blues. That doesn't surprise me, because the guy who did it before me didn't do anything right, it would seem (only thing I haven't "fixed" is the exhaust, I'm crossing my fingers that no one could screw that up).

Do I need bump-stops? I've noticed a nasty noise occassionally come from the front if I hit a bump hard.

Bump stop prevent you from destroying your shocks if you hit a hard bump. Energy goes into the bump stop instead of hitting your shocks.
