Default 95 civic massive problem

Ok i have a 95 civic that ran fine. then one day it decided not to start. It would turn over, then shake big time and then shut down. Smoke comes out of the side with the pulleys but i cant figure out what is wrong with the thing. Could it be the water pump or the timing on the car. I changed the spark plugs and wires, distributor looks good!!!! i dont know what is it..can anyone give me some help to what it might be???? this was supposed to be a project car but i totaled my other car...so i had to put it back together and..it ran good for a while....

Please help.

what kind of smoke is coming out...and where on the side.

check your ignitor and coil.

check your main relay.

make sure all harnesses are plugged and not corroded.

Sounds like the timing belt snapped. Take the valve cover off, and see if it's still there.

well thanks for your guy's input!!!! I found out what the problem was...The clutch plate in the ac compressor went bad, and when either the power steering or the ac compressor goes on a civic it locks up the entire engine. So i just cut the belt to the ac and the car started right up.
