Default Suspension malfunction! help please!

Situation: I recently bought some new lugnuts online (with locks)...so today I go to jack up my cars to swap out my old lug nuts. When I jack up the front of the car...the tire doesn't leave the ground? I jacked the car all the way to the top but the wheel stayed on the ground. When I tried the other side the same thing happened. I've jacked up my car to change the wheels many many times before, and this is the first time this happened. I recently took my car to costco to get my rims installed...is there something that they forgot to do? Did they unhook something by accident? My car rides like normal, and I haven't noticed anything different from driving. My first thought is that maybe the shocks are gone? They are OEM stocks and i have been driving my lowered car around for like 3-4 years....but like i said before...the ride feels the same...

I hope you guys can offer me some opinions, or maybe this has happened to you before. Its just soo weird...I don't get it!

This forum rocks, and i've been wasting my life reading all these DIY and pictures of civics.

Please offer a Jig some help! Thanks!!

here's a pic of my car....

well, your shocks are problly gone but you dont need to jack up the car to change the lugnuts. Just replace them one at a time with the car still on the ground. Also, Im not sure what kind of jack you use to lift your car up. If you use the one that comes in your trunk, it prolly wont lift high enough for your blown shocks to get all the way out. I personally use a hi-lift 36" hydraulic SUV jack so I can get my car up REALLY high. I can put my jackstands at the highest setting if I wanted to.

Ya know i figured that maybe it was my shocks...but considering they were fine just a week ago, doesn't it seem weird that both shocks went out at the same time? or does that make more sense? and its weird that I haven't noticed any difference in ride quality?...

so do you have any recommendations for shocks? I have a lowered car...so i figure i'd need some aftermarket shocks. hopefully something good but not too expensive. can you guys give me a couple of suggestions and the relative price?...so i know im not getting ripped off when i call the shops? Thanks!

Yea, i was using the stock jack that comes with the car...and I know i don't HAVE to jack the car up to change the nuts, I just figured it'd be better to put in the extra effort...and look at what i found...=(

well, you could get some KYB AGX adjustable shocks. I had them on my civic coupe and the ride was very reasonable, just dont expect handling to be any better. I had them coupled with eibach PRO KIT lowering springs. You can get the AGXs for 300-350. I cant remember, its been a while but they are adjustable four ways in the front and 8 ways in the rear. Ive also heard nothing but good things about Koni Yellows. I've never had them but from what I hear, they can be matched to just about every spring rate out there.
And remember, its always better to work smarter, not harder. I mean, I could use a tire iron to take off my lug nuts just for the exra effort, but I use an impact wrench instead.
