Default what are the best headers i can get

i have a jdm d15b engine in my sol, i was wondering what you guys think about which headers i'll get the most performance out of. I know people who got dc sports 4-2-1 headers and they barely notice change in their cars, and damn dc sports say that you'll get 10-12 hp gain

more flow = better.

now flow is pretty general.. if all you got is headers, and the rest of the exhaust and intake is still stock.. your not going to help the flow out much, if at all.

big, mandrel bent, cnc machined, ceramic coated is what you wanna be looking for.

the stainless 4-2-1 headers off ebay are about $100 shipped brand new, with hardware and gaskets. They make as much as power as any name brand header such as DC sports because there made in the same sweatshop in china. its just differerent labels. I don't really care about brand names,

the coil overs in my car are no names but they look EXACTLY like SKUNK2's and my friends EG hatch has the real deal skunk's and both cars ride the same. both use kyb agx struts. He bought the JDM 4-1 type r header off ebay (ebay knock-off) for $150 and New England Dyno and tuning's dyno showed a 7.9whp increase with this header and 1.7wtq @ 6-8k rpm's. His hatch has a JDM obd-0 b16 swap with skunk2 IM.

d series engines dont like bolt ons.. spend $500 on bolt ons and you got a couple horses. the exception would be the d16a1, its pretty different from the other d's.

now k and b series.. they look bolt ons.

CAI, header, test pipe, 2.25" cat-back piping and you might notice 15hp on a D15. next "bolt on" would be a race cam, which might give you a few more horses.. but beyond that your looking at building an engine, which you might as well swap in a better platform (b,h,or k series)

COMPLETELY UNTRUE. They may look the same in a little low-res picture on ebay, but in person the differences between a shitty ebay header and any quality header are immediately obvious. And no, power gains are not the same on them either.

The Street Imports header?

He got what he paid for, that's for sure. Horrible welds, horrible collector, etc. I'll almost guarantee that's not the only thing that was changed, or that he also got tuning at the dyno that day.

it fit flawlessly and it made power, why spend more than $300 on a header that does the same thing? Have any of you guys actually used any of this stuff?

Because the better header will make more power, and last longer.

Headers and exhaust, like intakes, are not just a bunch of piping stuck together. There is a lot of design that goes into their production. A $10 ebay intake will fit flawlessly and will make power, but a good intake will make much more power.
