Default taillight tint spray

i recently went to my hobby shack and they said that testors doesnt make a transparent tint/ smoke spray

i bought my transparent red there and testors clear coat (which is cracking now after 6 or so months) so i think i'll buy somehting else for my tint.

does anyone have any suggestions? i noticed a 96-98 civic on this board that had a red/black color scheme and its tails were tinted, they looked real nice . thanks for the help

i'm afraid i'll get either a too dark tint or a too light tint

too light:: orange on my 98 civic tails will show through

too dark:: no light at all shows through

I've used the tester tint spray before. it works but doesn't hold up. after about 8months and 2 weeks of over 100degree heat, it cracked and peeled off.

i just wiped it down again and resprayed.

but this time i sprayed the inside of the housing instead of the outside. it takes a long time because you have to spray a little then let it dry, then repeat but holds up much better then spraying the outside.

this was on a 96 gti vr6

I bought the Japanese spray on tint stuff in red. It cost nearly $30 but it's been on the car for over a year and it's still holding up.

Testors does make a spray tint. It's under their R/C car paint line, Pactra. However, I do suggest you get the real Spray Tint from a specialty store, they work better. And don't forget that clear coat~!

if you put the clear on before it's completely dry (wait at least 6 hours) then it'll crack. I know it's dry to the touch, but it's still retracting...
