Default New to Honda Tuning- Engine Swap '96 Civic

I did a search but I was hoping for some more direct input. I've been into tuning BMWs/Audis for quite awhile, and I currently own both a '96 Civic EX and a '00 323ci cabrio. Both manual.

I'm at 140k miles on the Honda and I'm guessing it's in the twilight of it's life. The Honda is my daily driver (about 80miles round trip) and the Bimmer is my weekend cruiser. Not going too extreme in money, I was thinking engine swap (B16a? - I have no clue about Honda engines) and a possible turbo setup (how much - what brand?). I prefer KKK turbos. Like I said, I don't know much about Honda tuning, as my focus has been on the Roundel and the 4 Rings.

Any input would be great.

And to all you F1 fans: Honda lost 5 engines at Spa this weekend.:fawk:

Go Williams.

Any "b" series will fit There are some wiring issues, but nothing major. It is nearly a complete bolt in.

The Hybrid Honda page is an excellent resource, helped me a lot during my swap

As far as turbos go, there are a lot of pre-fabed complete kits from companies such as DRAG, GREddy, and F-max; for most of the Honda engines. These kits use either t3/t4's or smaller mitsu hairdryers. I would reccommend a custom setup since most of the above kits are overpriced.

Good luck!

I agree that a b18b and a turbo (which ever kit you decide on) would be the best bet. The B18b is cheaper and has better torque and if you are gonna turbo it then the 12 or so less horsepower that it has are not a big issue. I would rather have more torque.

Thanks guys, yeah, I'm a big fan of nM, it's what helps my Bimmer pass the Toyota IS300s (the non-t/c ones of course) on the highway.

I'm going to start pricing things out and see what I can do. I want the exterior to look as stock as possible, but I realize a new bumper might have to go on for cooling.

Do you guys experience torque steer at all considering its a FWD car? I guess that's where a Quaife or something would come in to play....money, money, money.

It's a shame I can't get an RS4 and just be done with it all. Although the RS6 would suffice nicely.

Ther is definitely a lot of understeer with hondas. it's not TOO hard to overcome with a few goodies. Oversteer would be a honda driver's wet dream!
