Default stiff shifter

well ive had a B&M short throw shifter for some time now and its always been really really stiff. i really noticed this after feeling how some of my friends hondas/acuras shifted. mine seems like it somewhat binds up when i shift. the shifts are short and precise, but sometimes i cant get into gear very quickly because it binds up or i fear i will go into the wrong gear. when i installed it, i used the provided bushings and lube and followed the helms manual. so today i loosened up where the bottom of the shifter meets the linkage, but no difference. so then i loosened up the part that holds the ball part of the shifter in place, but still no difference. i was just wondering if there was any other way to loosen it up some. thanks

Maybe break it in a bit. I don't know much about or care for short shifters, but if it's brand new maybe the bushings are a little stiff.

did you put poly bushings in on the linkage too? that may be what the deal is. if you dont like it, go back to the stock ones. maybe the syncros are going out?

Check the spring pin that goes in the slot where the linkage meets the tranny as well. Make sure that it's even there because some people just put a screw in there or something and it will make shifting akward. When I replaced mine shifting was as you described for about a week, than it went back to normal.

I'll bet the shifter was tightened too much. Loosen the nut/bolt that connects the shifter to the linkage. This is a common problem if you tighten it up too much.

I found that problem too with certain shift knobs. It needs a certain weight to work right. I had a Momo Carbon fiber shifter that was too light.
