Default need input on this ASAP!

well i was riding home from the bar tonight in my 99 civic dx. I notice when i'm speeding up leaving that my engine is sputtering in high RPM's, so i try to keep them low to get back and try to see what's wrong, and I just got my O2 sensors replaced about a month ago so i'm thinking it couldn't be that. The sputtering wasn't that bad starting off, but 15 minutes into the trip as i was getting close to my place, my car was sputtering so bad that i would sit there pushing the gas and my car going nowhere cuz it's sputtering so bad, i mean i was hating stop lights cuz i could barely get my car up to decent speed(35mph) when leaving the light cuz the sputtering was so bad. I have a vented hood and it was also raining, so i guess there's the possibility of water in the spark plug wells, but i've had this hood for over 2 years and this has never happened. Also it's around that time for new spark plugs, but i've never seen a car's condition deplete so badly and so quickly from just bad spark plugs. now a friend of mine with the same model civic says that when his engine blew his car was sputtering and acting alot like this. Have any of you guys gone through this or know what's going on??

i would check those plug wires for cracks and throw some conductive grease on the connections. if you bend the calbles and you see any cracking you will need to replace them.
