Default HElP!?!? NEW Clutch and pedal goes to floor.. help please..

Hey, just installed a new clutch on my civic and the clutch goes right the floor.. I'm sure everything is hooked up right, filled it up with 2 1/2 quarts fluid.. is that enough? didn't bleed the brakes, but I didn't open the lines.. I dunno what is wrong, help!
THANKS

Either the pedal isn't hooked up right, or you need to bleed the clutch line.

I'm pretty sure it needs to be bled. Try that.

have you checked out your clutch slave cylinder? I know that when I changed my clutch, my slave went out for some reason, and I got the same problems you are having.

2 1/2 quarts of fluid where? your resevoir for the clutch may hold 12 ozs. and that is over estimating.
Try this-- loosen bleeder on slave cylinder until the fluid trinkles out with no sign of air, close bleeder --- try clutch.
May have to repeat several times.

my slave cylinder went 3 times and the last time i bought a bendix one and never had a problem with it, the one time it went was on the highway i had to slam the pedal as hard as i could and slam it in gear....yea so i would say its eather your slave cylinder or your hydraulic line has air in it. it is really easy to bleed.

Just remember folks the individual has put 2 1/2 quarts of fluid someplace. Where is the fluid going. Is the individual opening the right resevior and is he trying to depress clutch pedal with bleeder slightly open to expel air and repeat procedure until no air bubbles present.
