Default D to B

hey guys. i have a D16z6, planning on going with B16a2, or B18c1. just wondering the weight difference, and difficulties swapping because of size difference. friend said that i would have to change/modify the front end (in some way, like extend it or some shyt) in order to fit a B18. i told him he was stupid. who is really right...?

thanks

u dont need to extend it, just need motor mounts to hold it, im not sure bout radiators, but i think it will just fit it with proper motor mounts and still be able to use AC and things like that... someone extend this info cause mines limited as u can see...

im also planning on swapping a B into my car

if you have a 92-95 or 96-00 civic, they'll bolt in with the proper mounts. no need to extend anything. you can also retain your stock radiator. many people go for the dual core del sol or aftermarket if they change them. the only thing you need to shorten or extend is the catylitic convertor to the exhaust pipe as it may be too short or too long depending on what setup you go with. other than that, the B series will bolt into your car.

thanks again.

i just but a b18 in my 93 hatch with no problems. You dont have to change your suspension. Just make sure you get all the right mounts and to make it easier get an OBD1 Motor.

The weight isn't a big deal. Upgrade the suspension if you want to auto x or drop the car a little.

oh yeah, thats another question that comes to mind. the OBD1 and OBD2, there like the cars computer right? and i know that i need to match the motor with the computer. but i dont know which one is in my car right now... is it an OBD1? im guessing because you said to make sure i get an OBD1 motor. so can you get the motors with different OBD's as in 1 and 2?

depending when ur car was made that will tell you if its obd1 or obd2... 96+ are obd2, from what i hear few cars prior to 96 had obd2 but dont quote me on that... also check with local laws to see if car will pass inspection if say u have obd2 and putting an obd1 engine in...

Your car is OBD1

It will be easier to swap an OBD1 motor to an OBD1 car.
